Why Windows Phone Failed

In today's time, Android has taken over mobile, and then comes iOS and some extinct operating systems. But you would be surprised to know that at one time the Windows operating system was a pioneer in mobile.

When the Android operating system was not available when Apple brand phones were not available in the market. Before 2007 there was no smartphone when Windows was on top, followed by BlackBerry then Symbian and a more localized operating system, but Windows was the leader at the time.

In today's time, the computer is still the leader in the Windows operating system, about 80% of the users are worldwide, Mac OS users are 18%, Linux users are about 2%. But in the mobile world, what mistakes Microsoft made due to which it could not proceed in Windows Mobile.

There was no specific phone

There was not a specific phone that people could use. Different types of phones were available. All of the company's phones had a Windows operating system, each with a different user interface. There was not a single specific phone that all users could use.

Like currently Android smartphones, the problem is that there is no specific phone that all users can use. Different types of phones are available. A huge network has been laid in the Android phone market. Similarly, phones from different brands were used in Windows Phone, none being a universal phone.

Microsoft ignored mobile phones

Microsoft did not focus on mobile phones, their entire focus was on computers, they had computers as their goal, they did not give mobile much priority.

And as soon as Apple's iPhone came on the market in 2008, it became so popular that iOS spread everywhere. And after that, the Android operating system comes in the market, it has become so popular that Android's market share has also increased everywhere.

So Android became popular because Android was absolutely free, the company had to pay to install the Windows operating system, Microsoft rules that whichever brand wants to use our operating system in their phones, they have to pay.

Although Android smartphones also had a problem that everyone was getting a different interface, the Android operating system was absolutely free, so all brands and users started liking Android smartphones, and that's why Android spread to the market.

They rebranded their phone

When Microsoft noticed that their phones had not sold, their market was out. Then they bought Nokia in 2010 and rebranded their product and named it Microsoft.

In Nokia's phones, it relaunched its Windows operating system with new features. They replaced icons with tiles in it, changed a lot, changed the entire interface. But by then it was too late, Android and iOS had completely captured the market. Windows phones were selling but very few were sold.
